Established in 2002 as the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative under the Clinton Foundation, CHAI became an independent nonprofit in 2010. It works to save lives and reduce the burden of disease in low- and middle-income countries by strengthening health systems and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and other illnesses.
