Michel Ciampi is a experienced Human Resources professional with a robust background in digital transformation, strategic HR, and organizational change management. He currently serves as the Acting Head of the HR Data and Technology Unit (HRDTU) at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. In this role, Michel leads the organization’s efforts in leveraging technology and data to drive people-centric solutions, enabling data-driven decision-making and streamlining HR processes. With over 16 years at WIPO, Michel has contributed to various transformative initiatives, including ERP project implementation, policy impacts analysis, and designing and implementing HR dashboards for senior management.
His journey at WIPO reflects his ability to balance innovation with operational excellence. As an HR Business Analyst, he developed approaches to optimize business processes through automation, contributed to the design and execution of major ERP phases, and facilitated strategic workshops. In earlier roles, Michel led HR policy reviews, drove change management initiatives, and represented WIPO in inter-agency collaborations, emphasizing harmonization and best practices across the UN Common System. His work has consistently blended a strategic vision with hands-on leadership to foster organizational growth and efficiency.
Michel’s extensive education underpins his professional achievements. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Digital Transformations, and AI at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (2024–2025). He holds an MA in Human Resources and HR Digital Transformations from the University of Geneva (2003–2005), where he specialized in managing and leading organizations, strategic change, and business analysis within a global context. Michel also earned a Federal Diploma in Marketing and Management from Lausanne, with a focus on HR, finance, and project management, as well as a Diploma in Computer Science and Information Technology from IEPIGE in Geneva. Additionally, he deepened his understanding of Japanese culture and economics through an intensive program at the Asahi Culture Center in Tokyo.
Before joining WIPO, Michel gained valuable experience as a Marketing and Account Manager at PW Asia Holding Ltd in Hong Kong, where he managed a team, created financial market analyses, and oversaw Forex activities. He also worked as a freelance consultant in Tokyo, conducting feasibility studies on expanding operations in South Korea for Gespac. His early exposure to international environments and diverse industries equipped him with a unique perspective on organizational and cultural dynamics.
