Established in 1969, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the UN agency focused on improving reproductive and maternal health worldwide. It works in over 150 countries and territories, supporting programs that help women, men, and young people plan their families, undergo safe pregnancy and childbirth, and avoid sexually transmitted infections. UNFPA also leads campaigns against child marriage, gender-based violence, obstetric fistula, and female genital mutilation.
