Birches Group Workshop: Moving Toward Fit for Purpose

Objective: To get HR Function Fit for Purpose

Why: Effective mission delivery and value for money.

This interactive session uses a case study (Organization X) to illustrate the real costs of misaligned HR systems. Despite having a jobs framework and pay methodology in place, Organization X faced serious pain points: staff reported unfair recognition and promotions, jobs were poorly aligned to mission needs, pay practices lacked clear principles, and performance ratings were inflated. These gaps contributed to disengagement, inequity, and inefficiency, with the organization scoring only 46 out of 120 on the HR Maturity scale.

Through the HR Assessment Framework (PPT) and Community™ Workforce Analytics, participants will learn how to diagnose such weaknesses in their own organizations. The workshop will then introduce the “3Rs” — Recruitment, Recognition, and Reinforcement — as practical levers for applying skills-based systems to drive fairness, accountability, and mission delivery. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with both diagnostic tools and actionable strategies to move their organizations closer to being truly fit for purpose.
