Who should apply?

1. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in international HRM currently working in a not-for-profit organization, or anyone who has retired from one within the last three years. The Association is open to all. Applicants from the more junior levels are actively encouraged to join, as one of our key objectives is to develop the next generation of international HR managers.

2. Organizational members are encouraged to join as well, providing they fulfil our membership criteria, and they may send any number of delegates to an AHRMIO conference or training seminar (limited only by the total number of places on the course).

3. Potential members who might not fulfil all of the membership criteria are nevertheless invited to join as associate members, receiving many of the services open to full members, but at a lower subscription rate.

The different membership types are covered in detail on this page

Why do we have to pay for development programmes and seminars?
For the simple reason that AHRMIO will not compromise on quality, and has had great success in attracting world-renowned speakers to lead its programmes and seminars. The fees are set at a level that allows us to cover our costs, and we have also been fortunate that our member organizations and commercial and academic partners have hosted all of our events to date.
Why should I take out an individual membership?
Individual members pay only $200 for an annual subscription and benefit from a number of free services. Membership of AHRMIO is an investment in your future, in your intellectual and professional development, and will rightly be recognized as a sign of your initiative and willingness to learn. Individual members alone have the right to stand for election to, and vote for, the Association's board. Individual members are also assured of receiving information on activities immediately and directly.
Why is the website in English only?
The website is only available in English for reasons of cost and demand. Although English is the main language used, principally because it has become the lingua franca of international not-for-profit organizations, we are keen to emphasize the international focus of our Association, which has been reflected in the cosmopolitan make-up of our seminars and conferences to date.
Which other associations are active in this field?
Truly, there are none. AHRMIO is the only association to address the unique needs of HR practitioners in international not-for-profit organizations. It was created in 2000 precisely to exploit this gap. We do collaborate with various national and HR associations on projects of mutual interest.
